Mission Statement: The mission of Greenville Presbyterian Theological Seminary is best summarized by the words of A.A. Alexander: “To furnish our congregations with enlightened, humble, zealous, laborious pastors who shall truly watch for the good of souls, and consider it their highest honour and happiness to win them to the Saviour.”

Founded in 1987 by Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) Elders, the mission of Greenville Presbyterian Theological Seminary is equipping preachers, pastors, and churchmen for Christ’s Kingdom among the nations. The vision of the Seminary is for our enduring Reformation around the world. Our faculty is committed to biblically grounded, confessionally faithful, and pastorally focused theological education designed to equip men for gospel ministry.

Beyond our main campus outside of Greenville, South Carolina, GPTS offers in-residence extension programs in Newcastle, England and Randburg, South Africa. Since 2000, we have offered live distance education in addition to traditional correspondence options. Today, our distance program features both live videoconference and asynchronous course content delivery (i.e., recordings of each and every class period made available within 48 hours of the class taking place).

Greenville Seminary is committed to the following values and distinctives: biblical fidelity, confessional integrity, individual instruction, experimental piety, affordability, accessibility, and ecclesiastical accountability. Our flagship Divinity program is built on instruction in the original biblical languages (i.e., Ancient Hebrew and Koine Greek), faithful to our confessional commitments (i.e., to the Westminster Standards as adopted by the Presbyterian Church in America and Orthodox Presbyterian Church), and aimed at the hearts of our students.

Never has a student graduated from GPTS with debt incurred due to his seminary education. For the sake of our students, their families, and their future churches, we are committed to keeping tuition rates low. We maintain several named scholarships and aid programs as well.
